How do I borrow materials with my library card?




Your Contra Costa County Library card may be used to borrow materials at any community library in our system.

You can have 100 items checked out at any given time. Individual media limits are as follows:

Use the Catalog to search for materials.


The loan period for OverDrive eBooks and eAudiobooks is either 7, 14, or 21 days; it's your choice at the time of checkout. enki eBooks can be checked out for up to 21 days.


If you can't find an item in the Contra Costa County Library collection, you can borrow via LINK+ a free service you can use to borrow books from many CA & NV libraries. Use your Contra Costa County Library card to place a hold on books that you pick up at your Community Library.

Borrowing History

California state law safeguards the confidentiality of library borrower records (Govt. Code Sec. 6254 j); therefore, the Library does not maintain a list of materials that you have checked out. Read more about the Library's Privacy Policy.

However, you can maintain your own list of books, either that you have already checked out or that your would like to check out in the future. Use the Catalog to create lists and save searches.
